The British royal family has always been a fascination for Americans, but a new survey confirms that Princess Diana is still the most beloved royal in the United States.

A YouGov poll recently revealed that Diana, Princess of Wales, remains America’s “most favourable” royal, securing 76 percent of the votes—far ahead of many living royals.

Coming in second place was Queen Elizabeth II, with 67 percent of the votes, followed by Prince William, who landed third with 58 percent.

Prince Harry ranked fourth, earning 53 percent, just ahead of Kate Middleton, who took fifth place with 52 percent.

Meanwhile, Meghan Markle came in at seventh place with 46 percent, just behind Princess Anne (47 percent). King Charles III followed with 42 percent, while Prince Andrew ranked at the very bottom.

Prince Edward and Queen Camilla also made the list, securing 37 percent and 30 percent, respectively.

Why are Americans so invested in the British royal family?

According to entertainment journalist Eric Carlson, America’s royal obsession stems from their love for celebrity culture and reality TV-style drama.

"It makes a reality show out of William and Kate, and Harry and Meghan, and Charles and Camilla," Carlson explained.

For many, royal family scandals, weddings, and rivalries feel like a real-life soap opera, offering endless entertainment.
