A month after Allison Holker Boss blamed her husband Stephen "tWitch" Boss' death on his ayahuasca journey, the term was used by Anna Kendrick at the premier of her movie "Another Simple Favor".
"tWitch" Boss, hip-hop dancer, choreographer, actor, and cohost of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", died at 40 in December 2022.
While promoting her memoir "This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light," Holker Boss said her late husband embarked on an “ayahuasca journey” and “wasn’t the same afterwards.”
“I think it was a very big turning point for him,” she said. “I feel like his heart was never really in the same place when he came back. There was something missing in his eyes.”
“It just kind of feels like he opened something up to himself that he never healed. And never fully escaped,” added the 36-year-old.
While parrying a question about the impact of a scandal involving Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, Anna Kendrick mentioned ayahuasca, leaving her fans scratching their heads with confusion.
When she was asked about how she feels about the movie "being impacted by everything happening ... going on in the world, she said, "Why, what happened? I did ayahuasca and the last year of my life is just gone, but I've heard the movie's amazing," Kendrick said in a red carpet interview with Variety.
An "ayahuasca journey" refers to the experience of participating in a ceremonial or ritual use of ayahuasca, which is a psychoactive brew traditionally used by indigenous peoples of the Amazon basin.
