Members of the K-pop girl group Blackpink have taken the solo music route releasing albums individually. After Rose and Lisa, Jennie has also stepped in by teasing the fans with a snippet of her unreleased song Like Jennie.
The audio however, has put the rapper in deep water as the listeners have accused her of plagiarizing a Bollywood song. The teaser has uncanny resemblance to the introductory theme music of Alia Bhatt’s character Rani in the 2023 movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
The controversy has sparked an online war between the fandoms of the two stars. “I cannot believe Jennie is plagiarizing Pritam, out of all.” a fan wrote commentating on the Korean star copying the music director of the Bollywood song, Pritam.
Jennie’s fans defended her saying the resemblance is because of the sampled audio both songs were built on however, others argued that the similarities are too distinct to be ignored as a mere coincidence.
The idol’s debut solo album is set to release on March 7, titled Ruby. Previously, her fellow group member Rose released her debut solo album Rosie in December 2024.
