Ariana Grande is opening up about the emotional journey she took to reunite her estranged parents, Joan Grande and Edward Butera, nearly two decades after their divorce.
During an episode of the WTF with Marc Maron podcast, the Wicked star, 31, revealed how she took matters into her own hands to mend their relationship.
"They’re not together, but they’re best friends. It took 18 years, and it took me forcing it. I really did," she admitted.
Grande shared that by the time she turned 24 in 2017, she had had enough of the strained dynamic.
"I remember just being at this pivotal point where I was like, ‘You guys, I love you both so much. It’s been such a long time. Figure it the [expletive] out!’ And they did."
She went on to say that her parents are now inseparable, calling their bond “the best thing in the whole world.”
"I guess they just had some sort of beautiful conversation or realized that how much they love me is so much louder than whatever nonsense happened way back when," she reflected.
Grande also noted that therapy and emotional tools available to today’s generation might have helped fix things sooner, but she’s grateful for how everything turned out.
"It really is beautiful, and it makes me really happy," she added.
