Call of Duty: Warzone is going off duty this September.

On September 21st, Call of Duty: Warzone, the first free-to-play battle royale game, will be permanently discontinued. As a result, Activision stated in a blog post, "future Call of Duty content, including the current Warzone (originally called Warzone 2.0) free-to-play experience," will be the creators' primary emphasis.

On that day, all internet services, game progress, and player inventories would be lost. Vanguard, Black Ops Cold War, and Modern Warfare all retain access to any Caldera material that was purchased for them.

In 2020, Warzone appeared. It included two game types (battle royale and plunder), as well as a single area named Verdansk that could accommodate up to 150 players simultaneously. 2019's Modern Warfare featured a battle pass, some weapons, and cosmetics. After only 10 days of release, it reportedly had 30 million players, proving its immediate success.

After Warzone 2.0 was released in November 2022, the game's name was changed to Call of Duty: Warzone Caledera (after the 2021 Caledera map). Activision is enticing users of the original Warzone to switch to Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, which has recently been rebranded to Warzone.

"Expect a vast amount of gameplay choices across three Battle Royale maps (including Season 04’s new map Vondel), as well as Ranked Play, the DMZ Beta featuring five different Extraction Zones, BlackCell offerings, and more," it wrote.
