Tina Turner wished to keep it in the family.
The 83-year-old singer, who passed away of natural causes last week, didn’t want her memorial service to be publicized and preferred it low-key.
Turner’s personal assistant Eddy Hampton ‘Armani’ told the Daily Mirror: “She did not want a big public funeral. She wanted to be cremated and I expect it to be a small, very private affair. I am sure there will be some kind of memorial concert and tribute later.
“It will be for her very close friends in Switzerland and her manager. It will not be a big family occasion,” added Eddy.
Turner’s death came as a shock for the music world earlier this month, who mourned the loss of a legendary singer with tears and tribute.
Besides enduring an abusive marriage for decades, and losing her two sons during her lifetime, Tina also suffered from a slew of health scares – both physical and mental – including, PTSD, a stroke, and kidney issues before she succumbed to a “long illness” on May 24.
A rep for the What’s Love Got To Do With It singer also confirmed that Tina will be cremated in a “private funeral ceremony attended by close friends and family,” reported via The Sun.
