Eddie Murphy is joining forcer against the Pink Panther.

According to Variety, Eddie Murphy is in negotiations to play Inspector Clouseau in MGM's next "Pink Panther" movie, so get out your magnifying glass.

The Pink Panther and Inspector Clouseau: History

The comedic movie "The Pink Panther," from 1963, starred Peter Sellers as Inspector Jacques Clouseau and launched the "Pink Panther" franchise.

Later, in the films "A Shot in the Dark" (1964), "The Return of the Pink Panther" (1975), "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" (1976), and "Revenge of the Pink Panther" (1978), Sellers would return to the role. Alan Arkin, Roger Moore, and Steve Martin have all played the part.

The titular figure, who originally appeared simply as an animated character in an opening sequence, is the subject of books, video games, and animated programmes that are part of the IP. The name of the priceless pink diamond at the centre of a heist in the first movie is referred to as "The Pink Panther."
