Keanu Reeves was flattered after finding out that German scientists named a fungus-killing bacteria after him.

In the London premiere of his latest film, John Wick: Chapter 4, the actor gave a candid reaction to the news and said, "that’s pretty cool".

A fan asked, "Hey Keanu, researchers from Germany found a compound naturally produced by some type of bacteria that is so effective at killing fungi, they named it after you: Keanumycins."

The Constantine actor replied, "They should’ve called it John Wick . . . but that’s pretty cool . . . and surreal for me."

Reeves also shared his thoughts during a Reddit Ask Me Anything thread.

"But thanks, scientist people! Good luck, and thank you for helping us," Reeves seemingly wrote in the Lionsgate Reddit account.

This comes after Sebastian Götze, a researcher at Germany's Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology, revealed that the compound was named keanumycins in order to reflect the actor’s deadliness in his respective roles.

"The lipopeptides kill so efficiently that we named them after Keanu Reeves because he, too, is extremely deadly in his roles," Sebastian said.

To elaborate, keanumycins is a compound that fights against "plant fungal diseases and human-pathogenic fungi" as per People.

"It is harmless to plant and human cells, making it an environmentally friendly alternative to chemical pesticides," as per the press release.

"The lipopeptides kill so efficiently that we named them after Keanu Reeves because he, too, is extremely deadly in his roles," Sebastian wrote.
