Reality TV show star Kim Kardashain made headlines after she began a petition to help 16-year-old Zephaniah Trevino get released from prison.

Kim began this noble cause with a dedicated tweet that read, “Please sign this petition to show support for the innocence of Zephaniah Trevino.”

The post features a total of two photos of Trevino, one which appears to be from her high school year book and another that had a sportier vibe.

The caption explained the wrongful conviction and urged users to demand her release for a “16-year-old sex trafficking victim facing life in prison in Texas because her trafficker killed her purchaser.”

The star took the matter up on her Instagram stories as well and shared details surrounding her arrest, as well as a helpful history of the victim.

The posted petition claims that the 16-year-old has been accused of aggravated robbery as well as capital murder. The girl was allegedly approached by a sex trafficker in May of 2019 and was threatened with murder and physical abuse.

Reportedly the victim was exposed to drugs and at the time was involved in an abusive relationship as well. Not soon after that, a conflict also ensued between her purchaser and her trafficker and as a result, the latter killed the former.

However, in the end, it was Zephaniah who was forced to bear the legal consequences because her public defense attorney encouraged her to take the plea deal and serve a sentence for a crime that she had not committed.

Soon after Kim posted the tweet, fans began flocking to help aid the girl and thus began a call to show ‘support’ for the innocent.’
