Reba McEntire is back on The Voice now.
On Wednesday, the competition show revealed the 67-year-old country singer as the big mentor for season 23. She will guide the surviving artists as they prepare for the knockout and battle rounds.
The vocalist of "Does He Love You" will appear alongside judges Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, and Chance the Rapper.
McEntire has participated in the competition show before. The musician advised Shelton's team in battle during the show's first season.
Along with McEntire's participation, the show revealed some significant adjustments that will be made this season.
The show is introducing a "playoff pass" during the battles starting on March 27. This feature enables both artists in action to proceed, with the winner obtaining an edge by skipping the knockout rounds and directly moving on to the playoffs. During this round, each coach will be given a "playoff pass" and one "steal."
In the knockout rounds, artists are pitted against one another and choose their songs to perform live in front of the other contestants. The coaches select the winner, while the artist who is not chosen is available for "stolen." In this round, each coach only has one "steal".
The playoffs have finally returned! Each coach will send only two artists—out of the 20 that made it to this round—to the live semifinals.
The live episodes of season 23 will debut on NBC on May 15 at 8 p.m. ET.
