Catherine O'Hara, the beloved actress known for Schitt’s Creek, Home Alone, and Best in Show, passed away on January 30 at the age of 71, leaving Hollywood in mourning.

Now, her brother, Michael P. O’Hara, has opened up about her final days and a moving dream he had that felt like a last farewell.

Speaking on his podcast, Dreams of Our Loved Ones, Michael revealed that Catherine “wasn’t talking much in the end.”

He added, “She didn’t really want to talk on the phone… and she didn’t live close by, she’s in Los Angeles.”

Just days before her passing, he dreamt of hugging his sister in what he described as “a sort of goodbye.”

“I always cherish the times I can meet with a loved one in the dream state.

Actually, oddly enough I had a dream days before she died, my sister. And I was hugging her, which was really beautiful,” he said.

Since her passing, Michael has experienced another comforting vision of Catherine, “very happy” and busy renovating a new house in the afterlife.

“She said, ‘You can sleep here anytime, Michael. You can come over and stay any time.’

It reminded me of when she was in SCTV and I would sleep over at her place,” he added.

It's worth noting that Catherine delivered her final performance in The Studio, earning a posthumous win for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2026 Actor Awards.

Co-star Seth Rogen accepted the award on her behalf, calling it “a very sad honor,” as the audience, including tearful stars like Kathryn Hahn and Jenna Ortega, rose to their feet in tribute.
