King Charles III's coronation ceremony is to be held in May

The British royal family suffered a major blow in its popularity on social media ahead of King Charles III's coronation.

Their official Instagram account has lost around 100,000 followers this week, leaving a small but noticeable dent in their fanbase.

It is to be noted that earlier there were 13 million followers on the page which featured updates on King Charles III and the royal family's official engagements.

Now with over 4,148 posts the account has 12.9 million followers.

In the latest Instagram post, the royal family reported that for the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey, 12-newly commissioned pieces of music will be performed, promoting the musical talent from all throughout the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth paid in by the UK government.

Details Into King Charles upcoming Coronation ceremony

Britain's King Charles coronation is to be held on May 6, 2023 at Westminster Abbey in London where he will be crowned with the solid gold 17th century St. Edwards crown alongside Camilla, the Queen of Consort, who will therefore be crowned with Queen Mary's crown.

Rooted in long-standing traditions the coronation will reflect his role today as well as a look towards the future.

For those unversed, a coronation is a religious ceremony in which a sovereign is crowned, formalizing the monarch's role as the head of the church of England.

His procession will be modest as compared to late Queen Elizabeth II's which had around 16000 participants and took 45 minutes to pass any stationery point on the 7km route.

Moving on to the music and performances, six orchestral commissions, five choral commissions and one organ commission have been composed for the occasion.

Andrew Lloyd Webber will deliver a brand-new coronation anthem and so will Patrick Doyle's coronation march feature in the service.

Charles requested Greek orthodox music to play also as tribute to his father, Prince Philip.
