An individual was arrested for suspicion of assaulting former health secretary Matt Hancock at the London Underground.
As the politician made his way through Westminster station, he was approached by a man who went on to call him a 'murderer' as shocked commuters watched on.
It is understood that was not hurt over the incident.
British Transport Police said in a statement: "We received a report of a man being assaulted and harassed at Westminster Underground station at 8.47am yesterday morning.
"A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of common assault and a public order offence and remains in custody."
When the coronavirus pandemic broke out, Hancock, 44, was the health secretary. He played a significant role in the subsequent lockdown measures and vaccination distribution.
However he left his position after a leaked CCTV photograph revealed him kissing a staff member in his office, going against self-advised social distancing policy.
