Balenciaga sues $25M to the company initiated controversial campaign

Friday saw the announcement by Balenciaga that it was withdrawing its $25 million lawsuit against the creators of a recently criticised ad campaign.

Following its spring 2023 campaign featuring materials from a Supreme Court case involving child pornography, the fashion house filed the lawsuit a week earlier against a production company and set designer.

The company also received criticism for an another advertisement that featured youngsters holding teddy bears dressed as bond girls.

After one advertisement was supposed to include some backdrop desk objects and false court records from a prop house—but instead showed an actual SCOTUS ruling—Balenciaga sued production company North Six and set designer Nicholas Des Jardins.

There was a backlash from the fashion industry stating the parties shouldn't be held accountable for a company's advertisements, and representatives for North Six and Des Jardins denied any wrongdoing.

Kim Kardashian is one of the famous people who has worked with the brand, and she has openly criticised it for its bad judgement and oversight.

According to a statement made on social media by its CEO on Friday, Balenciaga said that the legal action was coming to an end.
