Winston Duke backs David Jonsson's 'Black Panther 3' casting

Winston Duke has weighed in on David Jonsson joining Black Panther 3, sharing why he has no doubts about the actor stepping into the Marvel franchise.

The upcoming Marvel film is set to arrive on Dec. 15, 2028, with Jonsson taking on the role of Prince T’Challa II, the son of the late Chadwick Boseman’s iconic character.

Speaking about the casting, Duke said, “I trust him as an artist. I also trust the people who chose him. I trust Ryan [Coogler]. I trust the entire MCU executive team. I think it’s going to be great.”

He also admitted his own experience joining the MCU has shaped the way he plans to welcome the franchise newcomer, saying,

“How I was greeted and received into this world – which was with a lot of grace, being told it’s a safe space to work, to play — that’s what I wanted to extend to him.”

Additionally, he noted, “I don’t have any advice. I know what I have to do with him, which is to play with him. I have to trust him. I have to give him the same grace that was extended to me.”

Notably, Ryan Coogler returns to direct, while Letitia Wright reprises her role as Shuri.
