Marcello Hernández, who hosted the 2026 ESPYS, made headlines after taking aim at several celebrities and sports figures.

On Wednesday, July 15, the SNL star hosted the annual event, with some of the biggest names in sports attending the event.

During his monologue, the comedian gave a shoutout to last year’s host Shane Gillis and joked about him watching the show from home.

"I also want to shout out last year’s host, Shane Gillis, he's watching from home like a true American," he said.

"On his couch, drinking a beer while a Hispanic guy does his job," he added.

The camera then showed Kevin Hart reacting to the joke as he smiled and nodded.

Hernández also joked about the age difference between former NFL coach Bill Belichick and his girlfriend Jordon Hudson.

"In 1973, hockey players didn’t wear helmets, basketball had no three point line, and in 1973, Bill Belichick was the age his girlfriend is now," he said.

The jokes came after Gillis received a mixed response while hosting the 2025 ESPYS, later admitting that the audience was not reacting well to his monologue.
