Ryan Reynolds has shared details of a troubling incident from his teenage years that occurred after a night out at 18.

During his latest interview, the Deadpool star recalled being hit by a drunk driver at 18 after opting not to drive following a drink.

In a June 9 GQ video, he said he left a bar and chose to walk home instead of driving, before being hit during the short walk.

He mentioned, the crash left him seriously injured, breaking almost all the bones on the left side of his body and putting him in hospital for about four weeks.

Moreover, he joked that the impact was so severe the other driver’s car was rendered unusable, and he credited doctors in Vancouver’s hospital system for his recovery.

During the same interview, he reflected on the irony of the situation, saying it was the last time he questioned “why God” in such a way after a major life event.

He also shared brief comedic childhood reflections, growing up as the youngest of four brothers in Canada and often finding himself at the center of their roughhousing.
