Machine Gun Kelly has left fans shocked after revealing he was left seriously ill – and even “turned yellow”, after his extreme blackout tattoo transformation.
The 36-year-old singer, known for his bold reinventions, admitted the dramatic full-body inking took a serious toll on his health after he ignored advice from tattoo artist ROXX, who had warned the process should be spread out over years rather than rushed.
Speaking in a candid interview, MGK said he pushed ahead with the ambitious design in just a couple of months, despite being told it would be “near impossible” to complete safely in such a short time.
But after just a week of intense sessions, things began to go wrong.
The Rap Devil star said the ink work reached sensitive areas around his armpits and shoulders, triggering a severe physical reaction.
He became extremely unwell, struggled to sleep, and even found it difficult to move parts of his upper body.
In one of the most alarming claims, he said his skin began to take on a yellow tint, leaving him frightened by how quickly his body was reacting.
Despite the health scare, he continued the process, determined to complete the blackout tattoo that now covers much of his upper torso.
The design, he explained, represents a major personal shift and a way of expressing emotional chaos, inner conflict and transformation.
He admitted the period of his life was also marked by personal struggles, including issues around sobriety and emotional pressure, as he felt increasingly consumed by work and self-expectation.
Looking back, however, the Bad Things singer says he does not regret the decision.
Instead, the rapper describes the experience as painful but ultimately “inspiring”, saying he came through it with a stronger sense of self-awareness and purpose.
