'Toy Story 5' twist: Taylor Swift’s secret track shocks crew

Taylor Swift has reportedly surprised Toy Story 5 production with an original song, with many team members unaware the global superstar had quietly contributed to the animated film.

During a SXSW London panel on June 5, the VFX supervisor Thomas Jordan revealed details of the surprise collaboration, telling the outlet that only a handful of studio insiders had known about the song since February.

He told Variety, "Turns out, Taylor Swift is a huge ‘Toy Story’ fan like many of us. She actually saw an early version of the film."

He continued, "She requested to see it before it was finished and she wrote the song and then asked us if we wanted it. And we said, ‘Uh, yes! Yes we do.’"

Moreover, he added that the secrecy surrounding the project meant most of the team only learned about the track much later in production, explaining,

“That was in February, so we’ve had to keep it a secret ever since then.”

However, to maintain confidentiality during early screenings, the studio reportedly created a “decoy version” of the film for select viewers and internal reviews, ensuring the collaboration remained tightly under wraps until the right moment for reveal.
