Henry Cavill and Kevin Hart are teaming up for what could be Netflix’s next big comedy hit.

Notably, the unlikely duo are set to cause chaos in the world of espionage and fatherhood.

The Hollywood stars have signed on to lead a brand-new spy comedy that will see them play rival secret agents whose carefully guarded double lives spiral out of control after a chance meeting in a Lamaze class.

Their wives strike up a friendship, forcing the two men into each other’s orbit and setting the stage for a hilarious clash of personalities.

According to the film’s synopsis, the pair are pushed into an unexpected partnership when their secret identities collide in dangerous and laugh-out-loud fashion.

As the stakes rise, the rivals are forced to become reluctant confidantes while navigating both international intrigue and impending fatherhood.

The yet-to-be-titled movie is based on a short story by Sean Lewis and will be directed by filmmaker McG, whose recent work for Netflix includes Family Switch, The Babysitter and The Uglies

The script comes from Adam and Aaron Nee, alongside Jonathan Tropper, while powerhouse producers Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds are backing the project through their production companies.

The casting marks an exciting pairing between action hero Henry and comedy favourite Kevin, with fans already buzzing about the chemistry the two could bring to the screen.

The announcement comes as the 43-year-old actor recently reflected on his long-standing connection to the James Bond franchise.

While he famously reached the final audition stages for Casino Royale, the former Superman star admitted he now feels he may be too old to begin a run as 007.

However, Henry hasn’t ruled out entering Bond’s world altogether.

Instead, he revealed he would happily swap the hero’s tuxedo for a villain’s lair, admitting the idea of playing a Bond baddie would be “fascinating” to explore.
