Emilia Clarke finally breaks her silence on Game of Thrones salary speculations for the first time.
The English actress, who plays the role of Daenerys Targaryen from 2011 to 2019, sets the record straight on receiving around $300,000 salary per episode during the show’s eight seasons.
Clarifying the misconception, Emilia revealed to Variety, “We didn't earn that much.”
Me Before You actress quipped that if she had earned that amount so she would have been “driving a couple of Porsches”.
Elsewhere in the interview, Emilia didn’t disclose the exact salary she earned during GoT series, but she told the outlet that she had enough to pay off her parents’ mortgage.
Last Christmas actress further said that she did not have any “creative input” as the star of the series.
Meanwhile, Emilia gushed over GoT creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, calling them “geniuses”.
“I was given the seasons, and I, to the best of my ability, empathized and understood and tracked every choice she made so it felt like mine,” explained the 39-year-old
Before concluding, Emilia added, “I felt like that was what my job was.”
