Colton Underwood has fired back after a social media comment questioned his son Bishop’s upbringing in a same-sex household.
The incident began when Underwood shared a post featuring his 20-month-old son with husband Jordan C. Brown.
A user commented that they felt “bad” for Bishop, seemingly referencing the fact that he has two dads.
According to Daily Mail, Underwood quickly responded by reposting the comment and addressing it directly, asking the user to explain what they meant by their statement.
Moreover, he emphasized that his son is “loved, supported, celebrated” and surrounded by a stable and caring family environment.
He also pushed back against the idea that a loving household could be harmful, arguing that harmful language and judgment are what truly affect children’s wellbeing.
In his response, Underwood stressed that vague or indirect criticism can contribute to shame and confusion, particularly for children growing up in non-traditional families.
As per the outlet, he added that his decision to speak out publicly was meant to challenge stigma and normalize same-sex parenting.
Underwood, who welcomed Bishop with Brown via surrogate in 2024, has often shared moments from his fatherhood journey and spoken openly about his experiences as a gay father since coming out in 2021.
