Seth Rogen recently reflected on the use of AI in screenwriting, slamming the writers who use this technology.
While speaking to Brut America at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14, the Canadian comedian revealed that he’s against AI in writing.
“I don't understand what it's supposed to do,” said the 44-year-old.
Seth noted that every time he “sees a video on Instagram that's like 'Hollywood is cooked,' what follows is like the most stupid thing I've ever seen in my life.”
As a moviemaker, he pointed out that a screenwriter who needs to use the technology to “assist” in the process is not writing.
“If your instinct is to use AI and not go through that process, you shouldn't be a writer. 'Cause then you're not writing,” explained the Knocked Up actor.
Addressing such writers at the festival, Seth was clear that they should “do something else” and not writing.
As the writer of several hit screenplays, the actor added that the “idea of a tool that makes me write less is not appealing to me”.
“I like writing,” concluded Seth.
