Selena Gomez became talk of the town after she appeared in a Rare Beauty advertisement, changing the way she introduces herself.

The 33-year-old singer spoke for the ad: “My name is Selena Gomez. I’m Mexican American. I am Rare.”

Although the musician tried reconnecting with her roots in the new video, it appears the message did not sit well with the people.

A netizen pointed out that the People You Know crooner “doesn’t even speak Spanish fluently, still has an accent, and has never lived in Mexico.”

Another X user, despite being a fan, slammed Selena for her statement: “I love her, but I can’t stand celebrities who use their Mexican or Latin” descent to market something.

This came after she and her husband made the headlines for seemingly heading towards a divorce after months of other troubled rumours.

It was reported that she is looking forward to sell her house as she placed a price of $6.5 million in Los Angeles.

Why is Selena Gomez selling her house?

The Calm Down songmaker might not be ending relationship with Benny despite several rumours as reports indicate she will be moving in with the record producer’s mansion.

Moreover, she is usually associated with her former boyfriend Justin Bieber and his wife, who are busy in their lives and activities.
