Martin Short calls daughter Katherine’s death ‘nightmare’ for family

Martin Short is sharing how the death of his daughter Katherine Short impacted him and his family in a new statement.

The comedian’s 42-year-old daughter passed away on February 23rd of this year of suicide and her bod was found at her Hollywood Hills home by the Los Angeles Police Department.

In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the actor stated “It’s been a nightmare for the family,” adding “but the understanding [is] that mental health and cancer, like my wife’s, are both diseases, and sometimes with diseases they are terminal.”

Martin went on to say, “And my daughter fought for a long time with extreme mental health, borderline personality disorder, other things, and did the best she couldn’t until she couldn’t.”

The Only Murders in the Building actor’s wife Nancy Dolman died from ovarian cancer in 2010, and the actor also faced the tragic death of his brother in a car accident and both his parents also passed when he was young.

Martin has only recently stepped out in the public eye after the death of Katherine to attend the Los Angeles screening of his documentary Marty, Life Is Short, and he was joined by his sons and close friends.
