Bonnie Tyler has been rushed to hospital for emergency intestinal surgery after falling ill at her home in Portugal.

The 74-year-old music legend, famed for belting out chart classics like Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding Out for a Hero, underwent the urgent procedure in Faro and is now recovering after what pals described as a frightening health scare.

A statement posted on the singer’s official website confirmed the operation had been successful and thanked fans for their concern and support during the ordeal.

Loved ones are said to be staying close by as Bonnie rests and regains her strength.

The Welsh superstar, who received an MBE in 2022 for services to music, has remained one of Britain’s most beloved rock voices for decades thanks to her unmistakable raspy vocals and powerhouse performances.

Despite her age, she has repeatedly insisted she has no intention of stepping away from the spotlight.

In a previous interview, the singer admitted she has “slowed down a little bit” but revealed she never plans to retire from performing.

She also confessed lockdown left her climbing the walls, saying she “needed to get back out there on the road” after being unable to tour.

Only recently, If You Were a Woman hitmaker released her uplifting 2025 single Yes I Can, explaining she hoped the anthem would inspire fans struggling with confidence or tough times.

Now, supporters across the world are rallying around the much-loved star and sending heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery as she recuperates in Portugal.
