Brandon Lake and Nick Jonas have dropped two new songs that reflect on their faith journey, and contain religious themes.

The duo had been teasing their collaboration for weeks and has now released The Author and a remix of Hope, which was first featured on the Jonas Brothers’ recent solo album, Sunday Best.

As per a release announcing the new song, it was written by the musicians’ during a writing camp hosted by the Grammy-winning CCM singer in late 2025.

“The result is a seamless collision of two worlds: Jonas’ polished pop sensibility and Lake’s powerful, inspirational vocals coming together in a way that feels both unexpected and undeniable,” the release read.

In the track, Jonas sings about his religious upbringing and how his journey with faith has been after his exit from the church, which occurred because his dad, a pastor, was forced to resign following his sons’ signing with Columbia Records in 2005.

The Sucker singer has been candid about his relationship with religion, saying during the Jay Shetty podcast.

“It took a lot of faith, and even questioning faith at that time, going from the safety net of the church to all of a sudden being sort of betrayed by them and having to redefine your relationship with God while going through some of your toughest moments," Jonas stated about his father being removed.

Lake on the other hand writes songs at Seacoast Church in Charleston, South Carolina, and is known for his ties to evangelical Christianity.
