Taylor Swift has revealed the one thing she is not fond of her fans doing, and it has ironically only added to the discourse.

The Evermore singer dished that her fans sometimes take decoding her easter eggs or lyrics to the extreme and opened up about the point at which it gets uncomfortable for her.

In her interview with the New York Times, the global popstar stated, “There’s corners of my fanbase who are gonna take things to a really extreme place. There’s nothing I can do about that. There’s people who are gonna try to, like, do detective work, figure out the details — who is that about? What is this?”

Swift added, “When it gets a little bit weird for me is when people act like it’s a paternity test, like, ‘This song’s about that person.’ Because I’m like, ‘That dude didn’t write the song, I did.’ But that’s part of it.”

The remark was soon dissected on social media, with the Lover singer’s fans interpreting it to be about her ex, Joe Alwyn, whom she previously credited as a songwriter in some of her songs.

One user wrote on X, “Whack that Joebless again and his 4 and a half stans,” as another added, “She knew this was a prime opportunity to end Joe Widows and so did it in such a clinical way. This is why I stan Taylor.”

Notably, many others also took Taylor’s words as shade towards Joe, although it is unclear who it really is about.
