Sir Sam Neill has delivered the kind of news fans were desperately hoping for that he is officially cancer-free after a gruelling four-year battle.
The 78-year-old star, best known for his iconic role as Dr Alan Grant in Jurassic Park, has revealed that a groundbreaking treatment helped turn his fate around after traditional chemotherapy stopped working.
Speaking candidly, Sam admitted there was a moment when things looked bleak.
“The chemo stopped working… it looked like I was on the way out,” he said, recalling the terrifying uncertainty of his diagnosis with stage 3 lymphoma.
But in a dramatic twist, the beloved actor underwent CAR T-cell therapy, an advanced treatment that retrains the body’s immune system to fight cancer.
And the results have been nothing short of extraordinary.
“I’ve just had a scan… there is no cancer in my body,” he shared, clearly overjoyed.
“That’s an extraordinary thing.”
Sam first opened up about his illness in his memoir Did I Ever Tell You This, written during his toughest days under chemotherapy.
At the time, he expressed frustration that headlines focused solely on his diagnosis rather than his recovery.
Now, he’s setting the record straight and it’s all about hope.
“I’m absolutely fine,” he insisted, highlighting that remission is the real story.
The veteran star has also credited modern medicine for saving his life, praising the rapid advances in cancer treatment and the dedication of healthcare workers.
