Teri Hatcher has revealed the one career move that still makes her wince, turning down a shot at Broadway fame.
The 61-year-old actress has admitted she passed up the chance of a lifetime after starring as Sally Bowles in a touring production of Cabaret in the late 1990s.
Despite rave reviews and a successful seven-month run across four cities, Teri said she simply didn’t have the energy to take the role to New York.
Speaking candidly, the Desperate Housewives star confessed she was “exhausted” at the time, juggling the demands of performing while raising her young daughter.
When the offer came to move the show to Broadway, she made the difficult decision to step back, a choice she now looks back on with mixed emotions.
“It was an amazing experience,” she recalled, but added that declining Broadway “was my chance”, one she still thinks about years later.
Still, it’s not all regret, Teri remains hopeful she’ll one day grace the famous New York stage, teasing: “Maybe I’ll get another one. I hope so.”
Away from theatre talk, the former Tomorrow Never Dies actress has also sparked debate with her frank views on cosmetic surgery.
She’s called on fellow celebrities to be honest about going under the knife, warning that secrecy only piles pressure on everyday women.
She insists she’s embracing ageing naturally, saying she wants audiences to see “a real 60-year-old woman” on screen.
While she admits she could be tempted if she fixated on her wrinkles, she’s currently focused on “internal work” instead of a facelift.
