Josh Hutcherson, who played Peeta Mellark in the fictional and highly popular series The Hunger Games, compared the dystopian world to the current real one.
The actor emphasised the similarities between the government of the United States and the themes in the series and life imitating art.
In his cover story interview for GQ, the Bridge to Terabithia star stated, “Look, [that series] is not going to change the world. I think it’s a tool – of which there are many – a warning about giving government too much power and control. About not standing up against authoritarians.”
Josh added that it was frustrating to watch the current affairs unfold, and how American politics has turned awry.
The 33-year-old added that the US has “lost its way in so many ways. The fact that we’re at ICE raids in the streets and funding wars. The fact that there are a lot of Americans who support it – and many more who don’t – makes you feel like an alien in your own place. It’s like, how are we allowing this?”
Notably, the comparison of the Trump Administration with The Hunger Games has also been made before, when the President announced the ‘Patriot Games.’
