Karol G is all set to achieve major milestone as she is going to be the first Latina artist to headline Coachella this weekend.
The Colombian superstar recently speaks to Playboy where she reveals she wants to make an impact on Hispanic/Latin community amid United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement policy under President Donald Trump through her performance at the festival.
“People will say, ‘It’s better you don’t,’” says the musician.
And the reason is because “if you say the thing, maybe the next day you’ll get a call: ‘Hey, we are taking your visa away.’ You become bait, because some people want to show their power,” according to Karol.
Interestingly, the Provenza artist points out that she doesn’t want to speak against ICE before her Coachella show.
The fact is that she will have a huge stage to raise her voice against injustice aimed at her community.
Therefore, Karol notes that she has to be cautious and wait for her turn.
“With this opportunity, I can talk and represent something more,” states the 35-year-old musician while speaking against ICE.
Elsewhere in the interview, Karol opens up that she doesn’t want to say ‘ICE OUT’ like in the case of Bad Bunny or other artists because it causes no ripple effect.
“I’m probably going to go a little harder than that. I just want to represent my community. But what I’m telling you is that, as a human being, I want that to mean more,” adds the musician.
