Charli xcx, whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison, was embroiled in a controversy about allegedly copying songs from Sky Ferreira demos.

As the 33-year-old singer’s team clarified the buzz surrounding Wuthering Heights, they also seemingly confirmed to Billboard about her seventh studio album.

According to the outlet, the Brat hitmaker is putting some final touches at the project as they shared a statement about Charli making “seven albums, four mixtapes and one EP.”

Her team debunked the speculations that dominate the internet, stating that the “appropriate parties” have “formally” approved all credits before the release of the album.

They insisted that The Moment star “always shares credits fairly and appropriately and values her collaborators tremendously.”

The controversy sparked after a user shared a screenshot on X of a conversation with an insider, calling two tracks to be a “ripped” from Sky demos.

The Don’t Forget crooner broke her silence as she responded to the rumours, writing on Instagram: “You industry insider is wrong. Close but wrong.”

She added fire to the fuel with her statement, noting: “It isn’t worth the trouble bc I know how the world works.”

It is to be noted that Sky is mentioned as one of the “featured artist, co-writer and vocal producer” on the studio record’s song Eyes of the World.
