After the drop of the highly polarizing Wuthering Heights adaptation trailer, the involvement of Charli XCX is fueling the fire.
It was announced that the singer has recorded several original songs for Emerald Fennell’s seemingly bizarre take on the novel by Emily Bronte.
Some accused the Brat icon of choosing projects due to a dying music career, which isn’t quite factually correct after her major success this summer, “Her singing career is on the skids, so she has to write for other projects now.”
Others turned the news into a comedic turn of events, wondering, “Do we actually need Cathy and Heathcliff’s messy obsession soundtracked by glitchy synths, or is this exactly the kind of chaos Emily Brontë would’ve secretly been into?”
Predicting the fate of the already pre-hated film, sentiments like, “This movie somehow got exponentially worse,” and, “This movie is gonna be so s***. Who wants to hear hyper pop songs in movie that’s set in the 1700s?,” are growing quickly.
Some suggested other artists instead of Charli for the movie, as one user remarked, “??? They should've asked Taylor to write a folkorian soundtrack instead of this mess. Would've won a grammy for the film just like Hunger Games.”
