Anne Hathaway has recently revealed how she dealt with stress amid her busy career and motherhood.

The American actress, who is currently leading The Devil Wears Prada sequel, made the decision not to move through her life as a “stressed person”.

“I don't want my kids to be around it, I don't want my friends to be around it, I don't want strangers to be around it, I don't want people I work with to be around it,” said the 43-year-old in a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

Anne, who is mother to two children, noted that she’s “done a lot of work” and therefore, she observes her career in two phases.

The first chapter left little room for family and it was all about work, stating, “There was this focus that that was really uncompromising and uninterrupted.”

The second chapter shaped by parenthood, where the kids “interrupt you all the time and that’s I no longer try to keep everything perfectly in sync,” she told the outlet.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Interstellar actress negated the concept of work-life balance.

“My friends and I talk about it a lot, and we actually feel very defeated by the concept of balance,” she continued.

Anne pointed out that if the “weight shifts in one direction, you then have to bounce it up on the other side, and we find that it winds us up as opposed to making us steady”.

So, as a result, The Princess Diaries actress added, “We're like, 'We seek to harmonise our life’.”
