Scarlett Johansson has recently opened up about some of her life-changing roles that define her acting career over the years.
The American actress reflects on her career and how few of her roles made her what she is today.
While speaking on CBS Sunday Morning, Scarlett notes that she has had “life-changing roles” that really worked for her in the last three decades of her career.
The 41-year-old actress points out that the roles that “really challenge me and had a lot of growth as an actor,” was her Broadway play, titled, View from the Bridge, and a movie, Under the Skin.
Another movie role that worked for her is the “Marriage Story,” as she “felt hard and relentless in a great way”.
“You know it kind of strengthened certain muscles of mine as an actor you surprise yourself in ways that are encouraging,” explains the Lucy actress.
Then Scarlett mentions that her working for Marvel playing Natasha Romanoff in The Avengers movie “was a massive opportunity for me because it enabled me to do all kinds of work that I might not have had the opportunity to do it before”.
This movie, according to the actress, has given her a lot of visibility around the globe and even set the trajectory of her career.
Elsewhere in the interview, Scarlett recalls struggles in the early days of acting, especially as a young woman
“It was such another time too… I think growing up in the industry, and then being a woman, a 20-something-year-old woman in the early 2000s, in the spotlight in general, it was just a really harsh time,” adds the Lost in Translation actress.
