Bill Maher is clarifying the confusion surrounding his Kennedy Center honour that he was slated to receive for American Humor, but Trump’s team had blasted the comedian and say that it was fake news.
The political commentator has been selected to receive the 27th Mark Twain Prize, and he addressed if he will be attending the ceremony scheduled for June 28 and if he will be awarded or not.
In the Friday episode of Real Time With Bill Maher on HBO Max , the 70-year-old stated during his opening monologue, that he had reached an agreement with the President of the United States.
“We have reached a compromise. The compromise is that I am going to get it and then I’m going to give it to [President Donald Trump],” he joked. “Everybody’s happy. I just want things to work out,” Maher jested.
It seems that the television host is still slated to receive the honor which “recognizes individuals who have had an impact on American society in the same vein as Mark Twain.”
Trump’s communications deputies, including press secretary Karoline Leavitt had previously shot down early, unofficial reports of the later confirmed pick, Maher, by calling it fake news.
