Michael B. Jordan has emerged victor during the 2026 Academy Awards, with the Ryan Coogler helmed film Sinners also dominating the ceremony.

The Creed actor won in the coveted Best Actor category, leaving behind nominees such as Timothee Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio and Ethan Hawke and joining the league of the five black actors that came before him to win in the category.

Accepting the award for his portrayal of twin brothers Smoke and Stack in the celebrated supernatural thriller, the 39-year-old delivered a very down to earth speech.

“Man, God is good, God is good. “Momma, what’s up? You know how I feel about my mother. And my father is here. Pops, where you at? My dad came from Ghana to be here,” Jordan began.

He then went on to praise his collaboratos and fellow actors in the film, including Wumni Mosaku, Hailee Steinfeld and others.

“I stand here because of the people that came before me,” Jordan said, naming them before adding “To be amongst those giants, those greats, amongst my ancestors, amongst my guides… Thank you everybody in this room and everybody at home for supporting me over my career. I feel it.”

Referring to Sidney Poitier, Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker and Will Smith, as well as Halle Berry, and all his supporters, the Chronicle actor stated that he knew that they wanted him to do well and were rooting for him, which makes him want to deliver.
