FKA Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett, was strictly warned about using her famous name in private conversations.
The 38-year-old reportedly received several emails from Indie band The Twigs to opt for another moniker in 2013, according to TMZ.
In the supposed emails, she can be seen explaining the significance of the namewhere she allegedly revealed that the singer created the persona at times of vulnerability.
According to the conversation, the members understand her situation but are unwilling to let go of the trademark.
The Oh Mary singers advised her to move on and “embrace a new name” which better represents where she is going and leave the past behind.”
In March, the Cellophane crooner filed a case against The Twigs by Laura and Linda Good, raising concerns about trademark claims,
While the musician alleged being asked for a huge payout alongwith threats of litigations from the band, the You Say Ah songmakers hit back with a countersuit.
She claimed to be receiving several “cease and desist letters,” demanding she drops her stage name or “pay them more than $1 million.”
On the other hand, the band filed for a countersuit of trademark infringement. Highlighting that the singer is now popularising herself as Twigs and discarding FKA.
