Timothée Chalamet has warned that AI is set to shake up Hollywood and says Gen Z will be the ones forced to figure it all out.

The 30-year-old actor shared his candid thoughts during a town hall hosted by Variety and CNN in Texas, where he appeared alongside Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey.

And while he admitted the future feels uncertain, Timothée insisted both generations must step up.

“It’s going to be all of our war to wage — sounds confrontational, I don’t mean to say it like that — but it’s a dual responsibility,” he told the audience of college students.

The Dune star suggested young people will “bear the brunt” of working out how to live with artificial intelligence, but stressed that those already in powerful positions must protect opportunities for emerging talent.

“Some of the roles I got that helped kickstart my career, I wouldn’t even know if they’re available today,” he confessed.

Marty Supreme actor admitted he feels a “level of fatalism” about AI’s rapid rise, saying the technology is coming whether the industry likes it or not.

However, the dreamer in him sees potential benefits.

He added that if AI gives a 19-year-old the chance to create something they wouldn’t normally be able to because powerful industry gatekeepers are blocking the way, then he sees that as a positive thing.

Despite his concerns, the Hollywood heartthrob made one thing clear that he’s “fiercely protective” of actors and artists and determined to help keep the doors open, no matter what tide rolls in.
