What made Hailey Bieber turn to skincare after her health scare?

Hailey Bieber has revealed that her terrifying 2022 health scare became the driving force behind her skincare empire, Rhode.

The 29-year-old model, who is married to pop superstar Justin Bieber, said suffering a mini stroke and later undergoing heart surgery left her “hyper aware” of her body.

And ultimately inspired her to channel her obsession with health into business.

Speaking on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast, Hailey admitted the ordeal changed her mindset. 

“That situation made me a little bit extra hyper aware of my body, a little bit more nervous about things,” she shared. 

“I’ve just always been really focused and fascinated on health… My obsession with skincare also comes from my obsession with medicine.”

She first opened up about the frightening incident on her YouTube channel back in 2022, revealing doctors discovered she’d experienced a blood clot on her brain.

Recalling the moment, she said she suddenly felt a strange sensation travel down her arm, leaving her fingertips numb. 

When Justin asked if she was OK, she couldn’t respond. 

“The right side of my face started drooping. I couldn’t get a sentence out,” she explained.

The couple initially feared the worst and believed she’d had a full stroke. 

Doctors later confirmed it was a transient ischaemic attack, often described as a “mini stroke”, with symptoms that thankfully resolved quickly.

Now, the supermodel says the scary wake-up call pushed her to prioritise wellness and build Rhode into the beauty powerhouse it is today.
