Charli xcx’s new soundtrack album Wuthering Heights was unveiled, sparking comparison with Taylor Swift’s 11th studio album.

The 33-year-old singer faced public scrutiny as the online community draws parallel with The Tortured Poets Department.

According one X user Taylor’s lead track and the musician’s Altars share the same beat, accusing the 365 crooner of copying the beat.

Another user was of the opinion that Charli “just slowed downed the beat” as they posted a screen recording of the songs playing one after the other.

Someone appreciated the Grammy winner: “Gag Taylor mother inspiration” to other “untalented” musicians.

A debate sparked online after eagle-eyed fans point out similarities.

The musician’s admirers jumped in to defend her as one of them penned down: “The beat being the most basic non copyrighted beat known to mankind.”

The track and 11 others from the album have otherwise earned positive reviews from streamers. The project was chosen as it compliments the "elegant and brutal" theme of the movie.
