Britney Spears has delivered another raw and emotional message to fans.
The 44-year-old pop icon admitted that she feels “lucky to be alive” after years of painful family conflict and confessing she still lives in fear of those closest to her.
The Toxic singer poured her heart out in a deeply personal Instagram post on Wednesday, reflecting on isolation, forgiveness and the lasting scars left by her family relationships.
“All we really want is to feel connected and never feel alone,” Britney wrote, before adding that being “isolated” in the name of help was the worst kind of betrayal.
While the Circus hitmaker said she believes in forgiveness but she made it clear that some wounds never fully heal.
In one of her most striking lines, the songstress revealed: “I’m incredibly lucky to even be alive with how my family treated me once in my life — and now I’m scared of them.”
She also hinted that accountability may never come, writing that no matter what, her family “will never take responsibility for what they did.”
It’s worth noting that the post follows years of strained ties with her parents Jamie and Lynne, and sister Jamie Lynn.
The tensions were explored by Britney in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me.
