Dax Shepard recounts Kristen Bell’s moving gesture for his dying father

Dax Shepard recently got emotional as he recalled Kristen Bell’s moving gesture during his dad’s final days.

The podcast host as well as an actor reflected on his grief after he lost his father Dave Shepard due to longtime health struggles and addiction, resulting in a diagnosis of small-cell carcinoma back in 2012.

The Parenthood alum revealed that he grew to “resent” this feeling to comfort people who had gone through Alcoholics Anonymous with his dad.

At the time, Dax remembered talking to his then-fiancée Kristen, who was also seven months pregnant, on the phone.

But the actor was stunned to see the Veronica Mars actress who flew from California to Detroit just to give him emotional support in her condition. 

“I look to my left and she's standing there, seven months pregnant. She had flown, she knew I was struggling and she had flown and not told me and figured out where this hospital was and was standing next to the car. What a champ, you know?” remembered the 51-year-old.

Dax added that he introduced his late father to his unborn grandchild in the hospital room.

Meanwhile, the actor also showed a picture of that moment to the live audience gathered at the New Orleans Book Festival at Tulane University.
