Billie Eilish has sent fans into a whirlwind with her latest announcement.
The 24-year-old pop superstar’s epic 3D concert film, Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, won’t be landing in cinemas until May 8.
Originally scheduled for March 20, the release has been pushed back as Billie and legendary filmmaker James Cameron fine-tune the cut and experiment with exciting new 3D technology.
The 71-year-old filmmaker, shared the news on Threads: “We’re refining the cut; dialing in cool, new 3D tech; adding some special behind-the-scenes we know you’ll love.
@hitmehardandsoftmovie will now release Friday, May 8th. Worth the wait!”
Billie, who co-directed the film with Cameron, first revealed the movie at the final date of her 2024 tour in San Francisco.
She later posted on Instagram: “This has been one of my favourite tours everrrrrr and being able to capture it and co-direct this film with @jamescameronofficial has truly been a dream come true. Can’t wait for you all to see it.”
The lovely singer had also teased the collaboration at her Manchester show last summer, hinting at a secret 3D project with Cameron while surrounded by a forest of cameras.
For the unversed, the tour kicked off on September 29, 2024, in Quebec City, featuring support from Nat and Alex Wolff, Towa Bird, Ashnikko, Finneas, Tom Odell, Yoasobi, and more.
