Matt Damon, known for his powerful performances in both blockbuster films and TV series, talked about one project he most regrets losing.
The Invictus star who is starring with his best friend, Ben Affleck in a new action thriller, The Rip, reflected on one production he felt was "the one that got away" in his three decades of remarkable career.
In conversation with USA Today, the Oppenheimer actor recalled 2008 biographical film Milk, directed by Gus Van Sant.
He admitted that back then he was supposed to star in the feature, however, due to Sean Penn's schedule, filming got postponed.
Hence, it made a "conflict" for his own demanding schedule and "got recast with Josh Brolin."
The film follows story of Harvey Milk, a pioneering activist who became elected in public office in California. The role was played by Penn, who won an Oscar for his portrayal.
Meanwhile, Brolin, or the role The Odyssey lead initially landed on, was of politician Dan White, who assassinated Milk in November 1978.
The Goonies star also won a Best Supporting Actor at Academy Award for his performance.
Despite losing the role to Brolin, he "loved the script" and lauded Sicario artist's performce, adding "It was probably better served by Josh. He was amazing."
As of now, Damon's film The Rip starring opposite Affleck is streaming on Netflix.
