Ariana Grande and Jonathan Bailey brought fans into a frenzy with the announcement of an upcoming project together.
After their strong chemistry on Wicked, fans were dreaming of the pair appearing opposite each other on screen once again. Grande and the 37-year-old, in a joint Instagram post, proved the rumours right.
The post featured a picture of the duo sitting in front of Georges Seurat’s painting, titled A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.
The image was a reference to Sunday in the Park With George, a favourite musical by Stephen Sondheim, based on the painting.
“All it has to be is good,” Bailey wrote in the caption beneath, quoting the lyrics from the musical’s title song.
Notably, Fans flooded the comments section expressing their excitement about the news.
One netizen punched, “ARIANA AND JONATHAN IN ‘SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE’ CONFIRMED !!!! IM SHAKING,” another added, “Making our dreams come true.”
“Everyone, wake up!!!!!! We’re going to the park!!!! on Sunday. With George,” quipped the third.
Although the genre, plot and characters were not disclosed in the post, fans are still rushing to get their tickets as soon as possible.
It was previously reported that the Wicked co-stars were in discussions to revive the Broadway performance last held in 2017 with Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford.
It is to mention that the star earlier shared that she’s drawn to projects that feel “different” and “meaningful”, as she wants to explore characters that demand something new from her.
