Britney Spears is responding to public reaction over her recent Instagram dance posts, describing the clips as part of her emotional healing journey even when they make her feel “embarrassing,” and teasing the possibility of performing with her son abroad.

In a Thursday Instagram post reflecting on her career and current mindset, the 44-year-old pop star shared a throwback photo from her 2002 American Music Awards performance, acknowledging that her recent free-form dance videos help her work through past trauma.

“Interestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about … it’s embarrassing sometimes … but I walked through the fire to save my life,” she wrote.

Spears also revealed that she does not intend to perform in the United States again, citing “extremely sensitive reasons,” but expressed excitement about potentially sharing the stage with one of her sons in the UK or Australia.

According to People, she did not clarify which of her two sons, Sean Preston or Jayden James, she was referring to, but said she hopes to be “sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair … performing with my son … very soon.”

In the same post, Spears mentioned plans to send the white piano from her 2002 performance to her son, and also shared a selfie with Jayden from their recent Christmas celebration.
