Amanda Seyfried has revealed she felt completely “liberated” while stepping into her most unhinged role yet in the hit mystery-thriller The Housemaid, and she loved every second of it.
The 40-year-old actress stars opposite Sydney Sweeney in the buzzy film, and according to Amanda, their on-screen chemistry was instant.
The pair bonded quickly, discovering they’re the same height, share a shoe size and even giggle the same way.
Speaking to W Magazine, the Mamma Mia! actress described the film as a wild ride, comparing it to Black Swan and Single White Female but with a darkly comic twist.
She credited director Paul Feig for pushing her to go all in, recalling his unusual instructions on set, including telling her to make Sydney think she was about to kiss her.
“I got to play so hard,” she said. “I felt so liberated.”
Amanda also had nothing but praise for her younger co-star, calling the Christy actress a “sweetheart” and admitting she doesn’t envy the intense spotlight currently following her.
Reflecting on her own early fame and the pressures faced by stars like her Mean Girls co-star Lindsay Lohan, she warned that overnight success can be “dangerous”.
Still, she says Euphoria star has handled it with grace.
“I admire the way Syd shows up for work,” she shared. “She always has a smile on her face, even if she’s miserable.”
