Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly planning a luxurious holiday with close friends to ring in the New Year, with sources claiming the couple will be travelling outside of the United States.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to be organising a “luxe” getaway to welcome the new year in style. While details of the trip remain tightly under wraps, it has been confirmed that the couple will not be spending New Year’s Eve in America.
According to Page Six, Meghan and Harry will be joining friends abroad, though the destination has not been disclosed.
The secrecy surrounding their travel plans is already fuelling speculation about whether the couple could be heading to the UK, particularly in light of recent developments surrounding Harry’s security arrangements.
The reported holiday plans come just days after it emerged that Harry has formally requested a review of his security situation in the UK. Despite this, sources stress that the Sussexes are expected to remain in California for Christmas.
Page Six reports that Meghan and Harry will spend Christmas Day at their Montecito mansion with Archie and Lilibet, and are likely to be joined by Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is known to share a close relationship with her grandchildren.
Harry previously reflected on Archie’s first Christmas in his memoir Spare, offering a rare glimpse into their festive traditions.
He wrote: “We took Archie to find a Christmas tree. A pop-up lot in Santa Barbara.”
The prince continued: “We bought one of the biggest spruces they had. We brought it home, set it up in the living room. Magnificent. We stood back, admiring, counting our blessings. New home. Healthy boy. It was Christmas Eve.
“We FaceTimed with several friends, including a few in Britain. We watched Archie running around the tree. And we opened presents. Keeping to the Windsor family tradition.”
